Brothers Tree Farm combines modern technology with some clever home grown techniques for
efficient operation. The farm activity begins each year in late March with ground
preparation for planting, which starts in April and continues throughout the summer.
Helicopters are used for fertilizing and spraying to control weeds and insects,
resulting in uniform, full-bodied, healthy trees. Pruning and trimming
promotes vigorous, dense growth and helps assure the fullness and pleasing shapes that
consumers desire. Tagging is done as soon as the trees obtain their density, height
and quality can be determined.

By early October, the pace quickens dramatically
as the harvest season gets into full swing. Seventy Five employees operate chain saws,
hand bailers, stack pallets, and load flatbed trucks, as thousands of trees daily make
their way into the hands of satisfied buyers. A unique system of palletizing is used to
assure trees are handled only once during harvesting. Trees are baled
individually into netting and then piled high onto pallets, which are transported to a
storage yard. A hydraulic press compacts the trees to legal load height just before the
pallets are loaded on flatbed trucks for shipment to their destination. Careful handling
and rapid shipment helps maintain their freshness.
